We are looking forward to a great year with some exciting 2 year olds hitting the track and a few 3 year olds who will start or continue their racing campaigns!
Nominal Dollars, a Northern Afleet colt out of Double Flyight will be making his first start in about 4 weeks. He initially sold at Keeneland September Sale in 2014 for $100,000. We expected to see him sold through a 2YO sale the following year but he was later named and has been posting some promising works in Lousiana! He was recently nominated for the triple crown, we wish the new owners the best of luck with him during his 3YO campaign, wherever it takes him!
Another promising 2YO who was subsequently sidelined after a minor set back will be hitting the track soon as well. Butler Field, a $450,000 Keeneland September yearling we sold in 2014, is by Malibu Moon, out of Wasted Tears. This horse was a foal share partnership with Bart Evans, who has since purchased the full brother at the 2015 yearling sale for $300,000. Butler Field has too been nominated for the Triple Crown and we hope to see him successful in 2016!
In other recent farm news, Conquestportaponti, who was a Keeneland September yearling in 2014
selling for $80,000, has been named! His new owners, Conquest Stables, purchased him out of the OBS October 2YO in training sale for $250,000. He posted his first work today down at Palm Meadows Training Center, we look forward to seeing him progress.
This marks the second horse purchased from Stonehaven Steadings who has gone on to be successful in the 2YO arena. Back in 2007 we sold a filly by Friends Lake, Trix in the City. She went on to bring $300,000 at OBS April.
We hope these investments pay off big this year for our clients!
